IOWA STATE TESTING RESULTS
Montessori and standardized testing are not usually associated with each other. However it is a reality that benchmarks can be useful to monitor a child's educational development, and that many of our children will leave us to enter the public school system...where performing well on the FCAT test is considered very important. Therefore we set aside one week near the end of each school year to teach our First and Second graders how to take such a test. We use the nationally recognized Iowa State Test. We never drill the kids for the test during the year...in fact it is never mentioned until test week arrives. Given this, we are very proud of the excellent results our kids achieve each year.
